Handbook and Key Documents

Handbook and Key Documents

Every ECT must have a Personalised Induction Programme. The core of the programme is half-termly meetings between the ECT and their induction tutor. The ECT induction process is fully explained in the Training Videos

The OTSA ECT Induction Handbook describes all the elements that must be included in the Personalised Induction Programme, as well as including all of the documents that must be completed as part of the induction process.

Copies of the completed documents must be retained by the ECT and their induction tutor. The appropriate body may request copies of the documents at any time as part of its Quality Assurance responsibility.

Key ECT Induction Documentation
The documents below are all included in the ECT Induction Handbook above, but you may also download them individually:

Statutory Guidance and Example ECT Policy

Qualified teachers who are employed in maintained schools, non-maintained special schools, maintained nursery schools and pupil referral units in England must, by law, complete an induction period (unless they are covered by any of the exemptions in Annex B of the statutory guidance) after gaining qualified teacher status (QTS).

Early Career Framework

The Early Career Framework is delivered by the Oxfordshire Teaching School Hub (OTSH) in partnership with University College London (UCL) Institute of Education (IOE). Information about the ECF is on the OTSH website. The following document summarises some of the differences between statutory induction and the Early Career Framework.
